## Reading the matrix

> **Tiers are cumulative**
>
> Pro includes everything in Basic; Premium includes everything in Pro. A ✓ in
> a column means the feature is available at that tier and every tier to its
> right.

## Per-company overrides

These are the **published tier defaults**. Any individual feature can be turned
on or off for a single company from the admin panel, independently of its plan.

That is used for:

- One-off enterprise requirements
- Beta access to something new
- Restoring access for grandfathered customers

> **Tip**
>
> If you need exactly one capability from a higher tier, ask before upgrading
> the whole plan. It is not always necessary.

## Grandfathered plans

The retired **Startup** and **Professional** tiers still have active customers.
Those plans retain access to features regardless of the matrix above, so nothing
broke when the current tiers rolled out.

Per-company overrides still take precedence, so a specific feature can be
disabled for an individual grandfathered customer if needed.

## Notable placements

**Gantt is in Basic, critical path is Premium**

The chart itself — timelines and dependencies — is available from the
entry tier. Automatic critical path analysis on top of it is Premium.

**Defect management is Pro, Test Case Manager is Premium**

Bug and defect tracking arrives with Pro. The structured test-case,
scenario and step manager is Premium.

**Custom roles are in Basic, but teams are Pro**

You can define roles and permissions from the entry tier. Grouping people
into teams — and business units above them — comes later.

**API and MCP are Premium only**

Both the [Developer API](https://helpdesk.orangescrum.com/guide/api/introduction) and the
[MCP server](https://helpdesk.orangescrum.com/guide/mcp/introduction) sit behind API Access.
