What are Backlogs? How can I Add a Task to Backlog?
Backlogs are the list of tasks planned & need to be done in order to complete the project. Backlog or Product Backlog as commonly known in the agile methodology is a list of all features, epics, stories and tasks that the product owner would like to develop.
Backlog is owned by the Product Owner, he prioritizes it and the Scrum team picks up items from the backlog into a Sprint and work on them.
Note: Backlog is only applicable and visible when you have chosen a Scrum project. Hence, if you want to use Backlogs & run Sprints, then select the Scrum template from the Template dropdown field in the create project form. Else, you will be able to see them when you navigate to an existing Scrum project.
There are 2 ways you can add a task to the Backlog;
- From Quick Links
- From Backlog

How can I use filters in Backlogs?
- Click Backlog from the Left Menu.
- In the Backlog page, you will see certain predefined filters like Assigned to me, Task status, Task type.
You can use filters to find the following information-
- List of tasks with a particular status– In order filter the task associated with particular status click Status in the top of Backlog page. By default, it will show status in Active Sprint- To Do, In progress, Closed.
Note: The Scrum Board will show tasks in 3 highlevel states – TO DO, IN Progress & Done. However, if you have used a custom status workflow, then the custom status with 0% progress will be mapped to the TO DO column. All custom status with progress>0% and less than<100% will be mapped to the IN-Progress column and the last status with 100% progress will be mapped to the Done column.
Also, you will not be able to add custom columns to the Scrum Board.
- Filter tasks assigned to me- In order to filter tasks assigned to me, you can select Quick filter> Assigned to me.
- Filter list of tasks assigned to specific user- In order to filter assigned tasks to specific user, select Assignee and select the specific user for which you want to see the assigned tasks.
- Filter tasks associated with specific task type- In order to filter tasks with specific task type, select Type and select the specific task type for which you want to filter the tasks.
